In Christ Alone

Be encouraged today by the words of one of my favorite songs, "In Christ Alone".

I especially like the third verse. ."and as He stands in victory, sin's curse has lost it's grip on me. For I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ" . .that's some good holiness language right there.

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

first off, i apologize for not commenting till now. Been busy and I keep forgetting! But im doing it now.

i really like this song too. its nice. i really like the verse that says:
"In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save"

it just reminds me that Jesus came on this earth to save us in human form. the incarnation. and in that same way we are to use the gift of love and compassion to minister to the people over in australia that we are going to come into contact with. lately God has been teaching me that even though I will be persecuted for what i believe that people, i should not let it effect what i believe. i once heard that if you arnt being persecuted for what you believe than maybe you really arnt following God's way. God's way in this world is against the status quo, and we are to incarnate ourselves into the dark places in the world, or maybe even the places that just need a little hope and smiles in their lives. we are to spread God's love to people through love and acceptance. this journey to australia is a perfect opportunity that God has laid before us to do just that.

ok, i think i rambled on a bit. but you get the point. that has been my thoughts while listening to this song and just thinking about what our mission to australia should be!

Great thoughts Beth!
You're right, how we communicate what we believe about Christ should not be dependent on the reaction we might get from people or the persecution we might face.

John Wesley was known to say something along these lines, A" Christian is a person who is at poise with all people." I like that. Like Jesus, we can be comfortable being around the richest of the rich, the poorest of the poor, and all the people in between. . .oferring love and care to all of God's creatures.. . . even the ones we know might misunderstand us, disagree, or even try to hurt us.
